Reed Peterson is a rising singer-songwriter whose rapid ascent is turning heads. Raised in a family of music teachers, he trained in classical piano from age four and later earned international recognition, including a solo debut at Carnegie Hall. Despite this early success, Peterson stepped away from music, becoming a recruited soccer player at Carnegie Mellon University and graduating at the top of his class with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Statistics. By 24, he was a senior data scientist—but the path didn’t stick.

 

In 2023, Peterson picked up an acoustic guitar and began teaching himself to write and sing, drawn to the raw storytelling of country music. Reno’s music community quickly recognized his potential. In 2024, he left his corporate career to pursue music full-time. Influenced by artists like Zach Bryan, Sam Barber, and Chris Stapleton alongside alternative acts such as James Bay and The Goo Goo Dolls, Peterson blends country honesty with an alternative edge. In his first year releasing original music, his catalog has well surpassed 1M streams led by his debut single “Chasing a Shadow.”
